Introduction
The NuVo Music Port Server (MPS4) is one of the devices that can be integrated into a NuVo music system to provide access to stored digital music over a network, and other music sources, such as Internet radio and 'Spotify'. Users are able to upload digital music from their computers over a network (providing, of course, that their digital rights permit copying).The MPS4 provides its own programs for achieving this. These are the 'Music Port Client' software, and the 'Music Port Sync' program.

First, open the 'Client' software; for example, on a Windows 7 PC, click on the Windows button at the bottom-left of your laptop screen, followed by a click on 'All Programs' (to bring up the Programs list), where you will see a new folder entitled 'NuVo'. Click once on that folder to open it, click once on the 'Music Port Client' folder, to open that, and then click on the red NuVo icon to open the Music Client software. As you will see, this allows you to control the Music Port library from your laptop. You can select music, and set it playing in a chosen 'Zone' (room) from your computer. In other words, this software gives you many of the capabilities which are available from the wall-mounted keypads in each Zone.Music Port Sync Software
There is some music available on the Music Port when purchased - a small number of test tunes. To load more of your own music to the Music Port, you can use the Music Port Sync software. The Sync software is responsible for copying ('synchronizing') music from your laptop to the Music Port device on the music system. This software can be used to monitor if the synchronization is taking place. If you load the program, and click on the Status button, you will see that synchronization can be set to 'ON' or 'OFF'. When it is ON, music will automatically be copied over the network to the Music Port device. If there is currently no additional music to update to the system, the activity box will read 'Monitoring ..'. So, how do you get the music onto the laptop to be synchronized to start with? There is more than one way of doing this. Using Apple iTunes program is one way, but you can also use Windows Media Player, or simply nominate a folder on your computer for music to be copied from.Apple iTunes
If iTunes is not already installed on your computer, you can download it from the Apple website. If you are unfamiliar with iTunes, there are plenty of handy guides available to you when you open the program up (from the 'iTunes' folder in 'All Programs'). Essentially, the principal role of iTunes, for our purposes, is as a medium to allow music to be stored on your PC/laptop. You can 'rip' CDs using iTunes (in other words, transfer the music from the CD onto your computer). This is then automatically synchronized ('copied') to the Music Port. This link between iTunes and the Music Port is configured in the Music Port Sync software. If you look at that software again, click on the 'Music' button to see how Music Sync is set up to update automatically from iTunes.
